Can i reverse type 2 diabetes simply by doing these steps?

Posted on Jul 06, 2010 under diabetes 2 | 5 Comments

Eat healthier foods, salads, etc
cut out junk foods
drink water instead of pop
exercise 30 min a day
and take cinnamon everyday

The most important thing you can do is seek knowledge. My doctor said there is no cure for diabetes. That the best we could do is slow it down. But I started my quest for knowledge. I’ve been off all medications for three years and my a1c has been 5.6 to 5.9 for three years.

I found out what causes the metabolic syndrome that leads to diabetes. It is refined fructose. Most sugars are metabolized in the intestines. Fructose is treated as a poison and sent directly to the liver to be detoxed. Table sugar is 50% fructose, high fructose corn syrup is usually 55% fructose and the "healthy" agave nectar, sold in health stores, is 90% fructose.

The byproducts of fructose metabolism are:
LDL cholesterol. The so called bad cholesterol.
Triglycerides. Deposited as fat.
Fat globules. Stored in liver, causing fatty liver disease.
Uric acid. Damages kidneys, causing high blood pressure.
A deficit of ATP, the energy chemical.

If you are familiar with Syndrome X, or pre-diabetes, you will recognize those results. Fructose is now the number one source of calories in America. Watch those two videos.

How prevalent is diabetes 2 in Japan, China and the Indian sub-continent?

Posted on Jun 23, 2010 under diabetes 2 | 2 Comments

Only asking because, apparently eating white rice increases the risk of developing diabetes 2.
Heard it first on BBC. Today.

From what I’ve been able to discover, it’s not so much the white rice as other factors, such as junk food and lack of exercise which are leading to the increase in diabetes 2. The true figures will probably never be known, as many people afflicted are blissfully ignorant of the fact and don’t undergo tests.

What can keep type 2 diabetes from coming back?

Posted on Jun 03, 2010 under diabetes 2 | 4 Comments

My mom has type 2 diabetes and the doctor said it was resolved after she lost over 100lbs but now she broke her ankle. She can’t really move for 6 to 8 weeks and we live on the second floor in a studio. Is there anything we can do to make sure her diabetes doesn’t come back?

Type 2 diabetes is control by lifestyle change — proper diet, proper exercise, and weight control.

You mom may not be able to exercise right now, but she CAN control her diet and her weight. Being pretty much inactive, she will need to REDUCE her calorie intake by eating less food.

She also needs to get up an exercise that broken ankle (as the doctor permits) so that she can get back to physical activity, and thus increase her food intake.

"Resolved" is the wrong word. "Controlled" is correct. Diabetes will NEVER leave you — you can only CONTROL IT, WIC it seems as though you Mom has done. She must now work harder on the diet since she is temporarily inactive. in the mean time, work the necessary Physical Therapy to get the ankle back in shap so that she can resume her previous exercise level, thus KEEPING the diabetes under control.

What’s the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

Posted on May 31, 2010 under diabetes 2 | 7 Comments

just wondering.

Diabetes is caused by a problem with one of the organs in your body called the pancreas. The pancreas has several functions, including helping digestion and also releasing hormones – insulin and glucagon. These are used for the storage of glucose (sugar) in the body.

Insulin is a hormone (a chemical messenger). It is released by the pancreas when blood sugar levels are high. The insulin tells the body cells that there is too much sugar in the blood, so causes them to take some up and convert it so it can be stored.

In type 1 diabetes mellitus, the person is usually born with the disease, so it affects younger people. There is a problem with the cells that secrete the insulin – so they can’t release much into the bloodstream. This means blood sugar levels go up and down. Treatment requires insulin to be injected.

In type 2 diabetes, the person develops the disease over time, so it generally affects older people (although more younger people are getting it due to child obesity and poor diets). In this condition the body cells become less responsive to insulin (but insulin is still being produced). Cells don’t take up excess glucose when levels are high in the blood. Treatment involves a good diet, medication, and injection with insulin is the diabetes can’t be controlled.

Sorry if that was patronising, but i didn’t know how much u already knew!
