should diabetes medication be taken before glucose tolerance test?

No.

You need to fast. No water, no food, no drinks, no pills.

If unsure about how to prepare for a lab test, you can always ask your doctor’s office, or call the lab to make sure. They are far more reliable than Yahoo answers!

Didn’t they tell you to fast, too? Seems that would obviate the point of the test if you changed your tolerance w/ a pill first.

I gather you are asking if you should be started on diabetes medication prior to a proper diagnosis i.e. glucose tolerance test?
    NO!
That is the only proper way to find out if you are diabetic and even if you are you may not need medication.
Diet might be all that is needed.
    Save the pills for later.

No.. glucose tolerance test is done after fasting conditions.. so not even food should interfere with the test
or else it gives false results
