Can a thyroid problem just work itself out?
Posted on May 22, 2009 under insulin resistance symptoms | 2 CommentsIm just wondering if a thyroid problem can fix itself. The reason I ask is because I took blood tests about 5 years ago and the doctor said my thyroid levels were a little hypothyroid and that i needed to go to an endocrinologist. Well, for various reasons, I never went to the endocrinologist until 4 years later (bad, I know). The endo did a bunch of tests and they told me that my thryoid levels were definately a little whacked before, but were now normal so they havent treated me for it.
Having said that I was diagnosed by both doctors as having pcos/insulin resistance. I definately feel like the symptoms of pcos and insulin resistance fit me better than the classic symptoms of hypothyroid (for example, Im never cold like hypothyroid people are). Im just wondering though why my levels used to be bad, but now are good. Is that even possible? I know that there is a lot of discrepency between which guidelines to use for thyroid levels. My old thyroid level was around 5 point something. The doctor never told me what it is now though.
I have PCOS and Hypothyroidism. I was told by three doctors that Thyroiditis is a symptom of PCOS, and when the PCOS is under control, the thyroid problems should dissapear… but they dont for everyone…. so check your thyroid levels every year.

See your problem is of hormonal imbalance which is controlled by the body itself. and it si strongly advisable that until and unless very necessary no Doctor will give you medicines for that. Even if your reports were abnormal before it does not mean that now also it should be abnormal. So just relax and have faith in your Doctor. Give a regular visit to your family doctor, so that he may advice you in details.
