What features are you hoping for in future diabetes meters?

Posted on Mar 26, 2009 under diabetes | 4 Comments

I'm hoping to design a better diabetes meter, but am not actually diabetic myself. Those of you with diabetes, what would you like to see in a new product? Thanks!

Not having to prick your fingers to check your blood sugar. I dont know how you would solve that but that would be great.

A meter that uses light (such as a laser) to read your blood sugar, instead of having to prick your finger or arm and draw blood. It may be a small amount, but it can still hurt, especially on the fingers! OUCH!

Ya, I agree. Having it somehow be able to check your blood without having to prick your finger.

I agree with the answers about no blood being needed. I test at least 12 times a day and my fingers could use a break! I would also like the meter to be able to communicate with my insulin pump as well as a continuous glucose monitoring system. The meter I have now, the OneTouch Ping does talk to my pump but can't talk to a continuous glucose monitoring system. Having all these items work together would be great.
