How much weight do you think I should try to lose?
Posted on Dec 30, 2008 under insulin resistance syndrome | 3 CommentsI am 30 years old, 5'2" and 200 lbs. When I graduated from highschool I was a size 9. I noticed the weight gain a year or two after I graduated from highschool, and after getting irregular periods I went to the doctor. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This disease causes infertility, insulin resistance, weight gain, excessive hair growth on your chin, upper lip, arms, stomach, etc. Also, it tends to give the body a pear-shaped appearance with a lot of the weight gain in the stomach area.
I pretty much eat what I want but I don't eat a lot. I am not a bread eater and I don't care for pasta. The most pasta I'll eat is spaghetti or lasagna. I don't eat a lot of fried foods, with the exception of fried catfish which I eat 2-3 times per month if that.
My biggest problem is that I don't drink water. I hate the taste of it. I probably drink on average 3-5 glasses per week. I usually order it when I go out to eat. Eating out is the other problem.
We eat out often, especially on the weekends. I usually order a shrimp salad or something but I like lots of ranch dressing on it. I love most all veggies and could eat them every day. I also like to eat Little Debbie snack cakes, candies like Starburst and Skittles. I am not a chocolate person nor am I a pastry person. Another problem of mine is Kool-Aid. Yes, we still drink it!
My husband is 29 years old, 6'2" and weighs about 230 lbs. He doesn't look big at all because he's so tall. But he likes to eat junk food and it makes me want to snack with him.
It's almost like I'm addicted to sugar. I crave it if I don't have any in my system. I want to change my eating habits but it's not so easy to do. It's easier to just eat whatever.
How much weight do you think I should try to lose? Do you know of any good diet pills? Do you have any other suggestions?
Just FYI, right now I wear a 14/16 and I wear a 44DD size bra (another issue).
i would say you should probaby be within 100 to 130 lbs to be healthy at that height. So you gain the weight from the PCOS? How do you lose weight if that causes you to gain more weight?(just curious) Anyways good luck with your weight loss.

I think the best choice for you is to try the atkins diet since you were diagnosed with PCOS. This will lower your insulin resistance and you will lose weight pretty fast.

For crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't need to loose any weight. Just enjoy life and quit worrying what other people say. Be happy with who you are, eat what you enjoy…………….
